Can I just say a big thankyou to everyone who helped drag me round the race...Particulary Jim Drummond and the nice lady who supplied me with the fruit pastels that helped me through a wee bad spell... It was an honour to take part in such a well organised race with so many characters! This was my first ultra...I'm hooked!

You've run with (mad) Jim Drummond and you want to come back for more? ;D Congratulations of finishing your first ultra and surviving an encounter with Jim.

Great race, great day, great refreshing rain to start us of, great wind behind us, great company and just a cracking example of just why we all do this madness. Thanks to all the marshals, to Ellen and Murdo and all the other people who organised the day. Really enjoyed the company of the people that I ran with..
Cheers all - hope the recovery goes well !

Just wanted to express my thanks too to everyone who organised the race and helped out on the day. The support going through the checkpoints from the marshals and all the support teams was outstanding, especially where it was really needed i.e. Inversnaid and Beinglas Farm.
I’m still buzzing from my 1st ultra, which was 40 miles further than I’d ever raced before so I’d no real idea how to pace it. Started off slowly looking for 12 hours and finished in under 10. It’s still sinking in and looking forward to the full WHW in 7 weeks.
Finally a big thanks to Fi and Ian for looking after me all day.

That's a brilliant first time performance Gavin. All you need to do is repeat that strategy for the full WHW race! Well done!

Great weekend had a blast. My race went to plan and I stuck to my schedule thanks to all. John well done great back to back running I know you did not get the time you wanted in the marathon but you looked strong all the way. I did the Ben on Monday great fun in the snow on top I ran straight up the green wall and up red burn and then came back down the tourist route, got some funny looks as I ran back down in shorts as the tourists came up in Artic gear.

As someone who got to watch the race as far as Beinn Glas and a wee peek at Derrydarroch can I say that all competitors have the utmost respect from us mere mortals. Some of my club mates failed to reach Beinn Glas in time, but were delighted to reach that checkpoint and are quite rightly chuffed to bits with their performance, particularly as they had never tackled anything like that before, although I hasten to add they had put in hours and hours of training under the tutelage of Jim Robertson. One nice touch by the organisers was that Murdo took the time to call the girls to congratulate them on their achievment. And he said "There's a medal and champagne with your name on it. You just have to reach Tyndrum next year to get it!" As for me, I've just bought a book on felling running. And I can't stop reading blogs and watching videos. Has someone left a seed planted in my thatch? I might see you next year, but only if London reject me!!
