As a first time flinger, and as I only managed the 42 miles to Beinglas, I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed John's video diary. It was wonderful and so inspirational. I will be back next year and I WILL manage the 53 miles. What a wonderful fraternity to be part of. Ultra marathon runners are a group of people that are second to none and there is no telling what your body can do when you push it to the limits. Three years ago I did not think I would ever run again due to illness and boy have I over come this. I have the good Shepherd Jim Robertson to thank for this and his support and encouragement are superb. Milburn Harriers are a small running club in the Vale of Leven and they are the root of my enthusiasim (check the spelling). My two dear friends Ali and Trisha ( JR's other lambs) will be back next year with me and they also will do the 53 miles. Three of my friends managed the 53 miles this year, but hey, there is no substitute for youth is there, they deserved their champers and their medals. I'll collect mine next year.
The day of the race was wonderful and I want to say a big thank you to all that managed and supported the race.
On a personal note, Mary Louise and Joe were fantastic. Being the last runner their chat and encouragement was second to none and I am eternally grateful for this.
Thanks once again to one an all..............
ps I managed to raise over three hundred pounds for the Lomond Mountain Rescue team (they do not know this yet) who saved my life and my two friends in November last year after we ran out of daylight round the back of Ben Lomond.
