Murdo told me about the 3 person team entry & competition for the 2009 Fling. I am the only ultra runner in my club so am happy to offer my running services to any clubs that have managed to get 2 runners to enter, but not the required 3. Contact me on b dot mcintosh at cranfield.ac.uk or through runningmiscellany.blogspot.com Cheers.

Brian, Despite our obvious musical differences I would invite you to become a member of Milburn Harriers, Alexandria. As near as dammit the home club to most of the HF route. We have the greatest ever (IMHO) WHW runner, Jim Robertson the one and only participant to run the race, and finish, 10 times in a row............................ and 12 times in all................and he's, entered again in '09. You would be our youngest WHW family member so the possibilities are endless........... We have three entries in the 'Fling but one is doubtful, one is old and one is me. There may be more, but your youth would shurely enshure our at leasht finishing a team.
Sir Shean

You'll pay me £30 for the year? Well it's not thousands, but it'll buy me a night out. ;D
I'd be very pleased to become an honorary member of Millburn Harriers for the Fling, and the youngest Family member in the team.
Murdo - is there anything official we need to do to register me as a Millburn runner?

Given the rather "casual" nature of the Fling, I doubt that Murdo will insist of full membership of a club one is offering to make up team numbers for. I could be wrong but I think you're a bit hopeful Davie if you think Brian is likely to shell out money just to help out another club make up a team! ;D

I think Davie's pushing his luck. The mighty Milburn already have a team, and Brian might be better to wait until nearer race day and join any club with only two runners to make up another team. He might even be able to negotiate some extra stovies!!

Now, that's an idea John. Any other southerners (or at least people living down south) willing to form a team? Murdo - does a team need to be a bona fide athletics club team.
And yes, Tim, you are right. £30 to join a team for the race isn't going to happen! ;D

Hi Brian, I may well be corrected by those better informed, (watch this space) but my understanding is that, under SAF rules, any runner can nominate a "second claim" club to represent. Just a matter of you finding who'll offer you the biggest jug of beer!! Cheers, Murdo

Brian, so far I am not running under club colors (although I am a member of a running club).
We could create our own team just for the race? What do you think?

George, I am not sure if I understand... maybe because I do not play Tennis. I used to play table tennis though a few decades ago. Or are you referring to cricket? - I dont even know how to spell that. anyway, since you are not opposed to drinking brew and Brian (as far as I understand his countless statements about beer drinking) is certainly one of us we could run for our own team. Like "the ale champs" or "ultrabrew" any suggestions? Thomas
