Hello. Can anyone tell me if there are any guidelines on size, type, weight, content etc. for drop bags? Also, are drop bags expected to be entirely used, emptied and discarded at each location, or can you have stuff like shoes or socks at a drop location, then have either shoes you elect not to use, or the shoes you change from, taken to the next drop location or the event finish? I've a feeling I'm asking for a logistical nightmare Thanks in advance for the answers, Kevin.

Hi Kevin,
What you put in your drop bag is pretty much up to you. The only thing to bear in mind though is that if you're in a hurry to get away post-race, the remains of your Inversnaid drop bag won't make it up to the finish-line until a fair time after the last runner is through there so you might not to want to put anything in it that you want back.
Heck, it's only 55 miles so you don't really need drop bags. ;D

Hi Kevin, We don't all run with nothing but Mars bars like Tim !! I tend to leave a rice pot's, choc bars, piece of fruit and a sandwich at each check point. That way I can decide when I get to each point what to eat. Water is supplied at each checkpoint but you might want to leave a sports drink along the way. Clothes, I tend to decide on the morning what to wear and don't bother changing as do most others. We try and return what we can but sometimes names and numbers come off bags so I'm afraid I wouldn't leave anything you can't live without. Your change of clothes will be waiting for you at Tyndrum when you finish, and you can also get a shower.

Thanks Tim, thanks Ellen. I think I have the answers I need there and I appreciate the help. I asked as I have a slight problem in my left foot which is usually alleviated by a change of shoes at the right time and the drop bags should allow me to do that, with the understanding that I may be chancing the loss of the shoes and that's my own lookout. I may also turn out not to need the answers, or indeed my own drop bags, as the contents of yours sound lovely Ellen and I may just try to keep ahead of you and enjoy them Thanks again for the help, Kevin.

Hi Kevin, One of the marshals at Rowardennan or Bein Glas usually makes it back to Tyndrum. If you "dropped" your spare shoes at one of them and out your "old" pair in a clearly marked bag, there is a reasonable chance that you'd see them again at Tyndrum. Cheers Murdo

Perfect, thanks Murdo. I was willing to accept a slim chance, so a resonable chance is an improvement That's 3 pints I owe in Tyndrum and I'll be happy to buy them. Cheers, Kevin.
