Accomodation at Tyndrum for "Fling" Saturday is becoming scarce. However, Eric Dodd, of "Mainland Mules" fame has block booked the By The Way Hostel and has some spaces available. Anyone wanting to book in there should e-mail Eric at erictdodd@aol.com.

Where is the nearest camp site? Anyone else planning to camp?

John as far as i know the nearest camp site is the` By The Way site` you run past it as you pass the the lower railway station in Tyndrum (top marks for observation ) i reckon you will need to book space sooner than later. www.tyndrumbytheway.com/Main_Intro.phpJohnK

You can also camp at the wigwams.
Car park will suit me fine though.

Have just mailed the said Eric, but am fully expecting being so late will be camping now! Any recommendations about accommodation at the start? Was wondering whether could camp at start (and if others did) and then dump tent with kit to go to the end? Any advice? Not done the fling before ans as with other races it's always the logistics that I find harder than anything else!

Hi There is a camp site some of us use about a 20 min walk from the start (nice early morning warm up). Details here www.bankellfarm.co.uk/I can`t help with the viability or oherwise in regard to the transportation of tent etc to the finish, but i do know small amounts of kit i.e. change of clothing etc are taken to the finish,. However i am sure Murdo or somebody in the know will be along to advise. Good Luck JohnK

No problem. Tents can go into the bus hold at Milngavie prior to start and will be shipped up to Tyndrum. Best camp site is at the By The Way Hostel - 400 yards from finish and pub. Biggest problem now will be getting into the ceilidh!!

Thanks for replies not so worried about logistics now. Got email back from Eric and sounds like I have a bed in the hostel. However, would also be fine camping. Will use the campsite near the start as that sounds perfect. I also didn't realise I needed to book tickets for the ceilidh - can I have one too? Have never been to a ceilidh and was really looking forward to it!

Ceilidh is free and no tickets are required for "Fling" folk - biggest problem might be getting in as I think it might be quite busy.

You and your warm ups John.
I will be in the camp site at start and will drive the short distance from camp site to start should you require a lift Sherpa.

I reckon with the increased no. of entries this year parking on Milngavie railway station car park will be a a premium, so leave the site in good time

Will do. I need to dump van their as one of my club relay teams is moving it to Tyndrum for me.
With the staggered start of old farts and wifies at six it might not be to bad first thing.
