How do the bag drops work (I'm a newbie)?
One labelled kitbag for the finish. OK.
Then for en-route do I have a separate bag for each drop or is it the same one which moves along the route to meet me? What do people use - carrier bags or are they too flimsy? I think I read warning somewhere that anything left in the bags may take a time to get to Tyndrum and miss the earlier buses, but can't find where I read that now.
Thanks.

The bag drops are exactly that, pingu-- whatever you want that will fit in a bag or box (maybe not dancing girls) dropped at each point & it stays there for you to take it or indeed leave it when you get there. Think drink drops in a marathon, eg. Some folk tape a food bar to a drink bottle, I put food & drink in a poly bag & ended up leaving some, but had the luxury of choice. I'm sure the organisers would agree that a clear label with your no. is key-- suggest roll of sticky labels-- but forget getting anything back at the end - the route doesnt lend itself to anything following you up the trail if you check the map-- The bottom line is self sufficiency. Carry your essentials, plenty water sources if you dont mind Giardia so suggest make use of the drops cos they're available, if only for peace of mind over water if you dont have local knowledge of finding clean sources. Enjoy!!!

In previous year actually the organisers have transported the drop bags up to Tyndrum but how practical that will be with the increased number of entries I don't know.
I would say don't rely on it and certainly don't expect anything left at Inversnaid or Beinglas turning up before the last runner has passed through. Drop bags left at earlier checkpoints may turn up sooner.
Best plan is to be completely self reliant or make sure you don't leave anything in a drop bag that you can't afford to lose.

btw I am well aware of the date today! This is however one of the more sensible Q's posted recently-- without daft postings, there wouldnt be much of a forum at all to entertain us all.

In addition to Tim's post, I think it would be best to assume that no drop-bag remains or abandoned kit will re-appear at Tyndrum. Much as we'd like to, and have done in the past, one downside of the "Fling"'s growth is a very hectic finish area and we cannot guarantee to "repatriate" stuff left behind earlier in the race.
As for how the drop-bags work -
There will be labelled vehicles at the start for
Balmaha Rowardennan Inversnaid Bein Glas, and Tyndrum (bus going to finish - for kit bags)
You put your drop-bags (carefully labelled with race number) into the "supply-wagons" which will take them to the relevant supply station to await your arrival. Race numbers will be on the website by the Wednesday night before the race. If you label drop-bags clearly you have more chance of the marshals finding them quickly. Marshals will dispose of all rubbish after last runner goes through. Hope this is clear.

Thanks, All very simple and clear. So no doubt I'll get it completely muddled

Or just carry it all like me and Satan might do.
I have to say that I do think that there is place for sensible postings or threads on this site. More toot I say!

I'm just going through the forum for the first time and don't know if this question has been asked or answered before, so forgive me if it has, but is water provided at the checkpoints or do we have to provide that in our own drop bags as well?

Hi Nick,
Water is provided at the drop bag checkpoints along the way.
If you want to leave any sports drinks you'll need to provide your own.
Hope this helps.
