Well 10 days to go, but I wish it was tomorrow. All the usual aches and pains start creeping in and I've all this time on my hands to think about it

Yep really looking forward to it just the little matter of the 37 mile Calderdale hike this Saturday to get behind me before i can Focus a 100% on the Fling.
Do you reckon a dry weekend this week means a wet weekend next week?

Nervous, excited and like you say too much time to think about niggles. Is there anyone on here who has tapered or are you all hard nuts that do 37 miles the week before the race.
Something tells me that I might come last!!!!
Maybe I should have lied about my age to start an hour earlier. Either that or I should wear a dress.

I must admit I can't wait for it to start. After months of feeling hopelessly ill prepared I've now entered that phase of total self-delusion. ;D
No aches or pains and running actually going reasonably well at the moment although that might all change after tomorrow's Screel hill race.
Anyone else going?

I am in that gang - self delusional. Am already thinking of a sub 10:00 hr finish (it's the same distance as the Gla - Edi Double after all !) and what to do whilst I wait for the others to come in... Have a 5K swim tomorrow then my usual slow week next (max 10 miles in the week ). Looking fw to getting to Derrydarroch in a good frame of mind ! Reality will hit next week, but I am enjoying it at the moment. Disappointed the Pirate chap not running but look forward to catching up with a few friends on the way up the track.. Cheers all - KH

Another self-deluder here! Full of anticipation and feeling strangely confident, which is fine except I have to remind myself that a couple of months ago I was thinking I might struggle with the time limit. Now I have to shut out thoughts of a 10 hour finish. See you there

I'm looking forward to it this year but thats because I'm cheating a bit and running in a relay team. Helping to introduce some of my friends to off road running, thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it . I'll be there cheering all the familiar faces, prob wishing I had entered the full thing. So good luck to you all.

its a novel way to get to a ceilidh, that's what's blowing minds. Trot 50 odd miles for a dance. Looking forward to my jig with Dino

I did my last long run of 13 miles. I am sorry I will not staying for the ceilidh, but I am helping my club marshal on the London Marathon on Sunday. ;D

Don't think excited is the right word. It is going to be a pain in the ar$e (literally!) but ultimately rewarding. From Rowardennan on I will be thinking of that first pint.
Folks, put your head down and plod like a good 'un. Tea and medals at the end. Hoorah!!!!

I now have one of those 5 days before a race serious (but only in my mind) niggles.. What's the story, am sure it is the bodies last attempt at giving you an excuse to pull out.. Finally booked accomodation - I think the last in Milngavie - even have a lift back courtesy of my mate Norman's very good lady.. So all systems go.. ;D. C'mon Saturday !!
